Natalie Ashley

Whether you are struggling with current or past difficulty, I aim to offer a confidential space through which you are able to explore your own journey and place in the world. Whenever you feel ready, please feel free to contact me using the details on this page.

My Aim

Through my own experiences, I have come to be hugely interested in re-instating the support and guidance we crave in the midst of difficult experiences. I am committed to supporting others as they learn to ‘stand by’ their experience, becoming more familiar with their own goodness and strength.

Core Process Psychotherapy is based on the premise that with awareness we are able to contact our true selves and, therefore, come closer to accessing our potential in life. This work involves coming to understand how our past and previous experiences, as well as our feelings about the future, impact our experience of the here and now; moving towards living in a fuller, more connected way.

With training in Mindfulness-based Psychotherapeutic Practice, I aim to offer clients a space through which to explore their own journey and place in the world. I believe that this exploration, when held in compassion, can lead to a greater sense of self and belonging. Together, we will navigate what you hope to explore and find ways of ensuring that this work is both meaningful and safe.

Initially, approaching therapy might feel nerve-racking or even a bit bewildering, but my intention is to ensure that this experience is as safe and as welcoming as possible. We do this by gently beginning to talk about what you might need from these sessions. I hope to offer you the opportunity to express and come to terms with some of your experiences in life so far, within a safe and non-judgmental space.

I have a deep appreciation for the natural world as well as an intense curiosity about belonging. I am interested in the ways in which we come to know ourselves, how we connect with others and the creation of spaces in which we can feel safe. Above all, my intention is to work in a way that offers service to those in need of space, reflection and exploration.

Background & Training

I am a Senior Student of Core Process Psychotherapy at Karuna Institute and a UKCP Trainee Therapist. With training in Mindfulness-based Psychotherapeutic Practice, I believe that this exploration, when held in compassion, can lead to a greater sense of self and belonging.

After much shifting around the world, I am settled in the South-West, living in Devon and working in Exeter and in Bristol.

I have an MA (Hons.) in Psychology from The University of Edinburgh as well as training in behavioural therapies including CBT and DBT. I have been working within Psychology, group work and Talking Therapies for a number of years, both within the NHS and third sector organisations. Over the years, I have worked within the realms of refugee rights, community action, personality disorder treatment programs and specializing in work with BAME communities. I have significant experience in group work, leading groups towards healthier, safer spaces through which we may get to know ourselves better.

Today I run a Talking Therapies service as part of the wider Anxiety and Depression Service (IAPT). As I move towards accreditation as a Core Process Psychotherapist, I run a small psychotherapy practice in Exeter and South Devon. As a UKCP Trainee Therapist, I observe and abide by the UKCP Code of Ethics.

Fees

I offer a free introductory 45-minute session. During this first session we can get a sense of whether we will be able to work together.

Sessions: £30 for 60 minutes.

Sessions are one hour long and take place weekly. Together, we will navigate what you hope to explore and find ways of ensuring that this work is both meaningful and safe.

Availability

I am available at Torbay Talking Therapy/Croft Hall GP Surgery, between 8am and 8pm on Tuesdays.

I also offer psychotherapy sessions at The Practice Rooms in Exeter City Centre on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
